Getting ready for Christmas

We've trimmed the tree, played in the snow, taken the Christmas picture in front of the tree & visited Santa. Christmas is almost here! When the kids visited Santa, as always, he asked what they wanted for Christmas. Avery replied "keyboard", Jake answered "race car track" and Eden said "trick or treat!" I guess we need to separate the holidays for her a little bit.

Thanksgiving

My sister, Angela, and her family hosted Thanksgiving this year after both of our families debated leaving to be with in-laws. Obviously, we all ended up staying home, except for my Mom. Ang and I had a fun cooking day the day before & Jim made a delicious turkey in an infrared cooker. Alyssa & Eric had the enormous turkey legs. What you can kind of see in the picture is Alyssa's green cast to her face, because she had already feasted & wanted no part in reuniting with the turkey leg for a picture.
Anyway, the kids all played & got along famously (as always), Brian, Matti & Zack all came & we watched a movie together while recovering from our food comas. It was a great, low key Thanksgiving. Thanks for hosting!

The many faces of Wyatt...

Wyatt's Blessing

Wyatt was blessed at church on November 2nd. He was a very good baby during his blessing. The only problem was his very cute & soft, fuzzy outfit. Wyatt had no problem with it, but Daddy's suit did! When Daddy brought him back too sit down after giving him a beautiful blessing, his suit jacket looked as though he had been snuggling with a white long-haired cat on the hottest day of August! And for anyone that knows Eric, you know that's not a possibility! But, even with the fuzz, isn't Wyatt cute?

Week of firsts

The week before Thanksgiving we had 'firsts' three days in a row. On Wednesday, Avery had her first school injury. She was swinging on a bar, slipped and landed on her left elbow. I immediately took her to get it checked (huge thank you to Erica for watching my kids with a one minute notice). She ended up with a sling until the radiologist could check the x-ray. Friday, we got a call confirming that it was broken. So, Monday morning, we went to the orthopedic specialist to have a splint for about 10 days and then had a candy cane cast put on for 2 more weeks. She's excited to get it off Friday!

On Thursday, the day after breaking her arm, Avery lost her first tooth! She has been dreaming of this day for many months. Even though I can't stand pulling teeth out, we worked together to get it out. The trick that finally worked was me holding on to her tooth and she would pull on my hand to get it out. Eden then decided that she wanted to pull a tooth, too! Avery just lost her second one this past weekend. On Friday, Wyatt laughed for the first time. It took a while to record it, because there is still a very fine line between laughing and crying for him. But, honestly, is there anything sweeter in the whole wide world than your baby's first laugh? (I've been trying to edit the video, because his best laugh is in the first 15 seconds, but I can't do it.)

October summed up

Avery introduced us to "fancy dinners". She picked outfits for her siblings and accessories for Mom & Dad.

Fun hanging out with the cousins! Jake picking raspberries for Aunt Angela and Lily is trying to stay safe while showing Eden how to drive.

Jake and I went to a local farm with his preschool group. This farm is so awesome! We love going on the tractor ride and getting to pick vegetables and pumpkins. We've gone every fall for the last 4 years.

A few more cute pictures... 1) Avery & Eden at the park, 2 &3) Cute baby Wyatt.

Happy 4th Birthday, Jakers!

Jake turned 4 at the end of September! I can't believe that he will be in kindergarten next fall. He can be the sweetest, most polite and kind little boy. He also can torment his sisters with the best of them! I love my little Jakers and all of the energy that fills him!

September in a nutshell...

One day, Jake was a huge helper and vacuumed for me, since I still couldn't do it. He vacuumed under the kitchen table for me & then discovered that it was a lot more fun to pick up the crumbs with your fingers and let the vacuum suck them out of your hand. It's not as efficient, but a heck of a lot more fun!
Singing in the rain & dancing in the puddles!

And the Halloween box has been found!

Eden holding her baby (no, it's not Wyatt).

Grandma & Grandpa came to help out for a week when Wyatt & I came home from the hospital.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

New Arrival!

Wyatt made his arrival shortly after 8pm on Friday, August 29th! He made us all worry a few times and made the doctor sweat a little bit, but he arrived healthy (and may I say, adorable). He weighed in at 7 lbs. 7 oz. and 20 1/2 inches long. We are so happy to hold him, hug him & love him!

Avery & Eden Pics

So, I'm far from a professional photographer, but I'm pretty happy with how these pictures turned out of Avery & Eden. I enjoy taking pictures, I just wish I could remember more from my photography classes in high school!

The Girlies

I took Avery & Eden to the park the other morning to take a few pictures, because I realized that I never got any birthday pictures taken of them. I still need to finish going though the individual pictures of them, but this is one of my favorites of them together.

Don't go, Daddy!

I thought this was a cute picture. One morning, the kids were trying to get Daddy to stay home, or at least delay his departure to work. Although they were not entirely successful in their plan, hopefully Daddy knows how much he's loved!

Our Naked Chef

Need I say more? I'm sure she'll appreciate the bow in the back a few years from now.

And another one bites the dust...

I apologize if you have a sensitive stomach, but I had to blog this. Our beloved cat, Rudy, has been earning his keep by catching mice & bunnies this summer. Usually, we find the victims torn to pieces, but this was the first day we found it whole. I'm thinking it was because it was so much bigger than the other babies he caught.
The first time Rudy caught a baby bunny, I was so mad at him. Now, I'm appreciating him protecting my garden. Thanks, Rudy Poo! We'll just hope that the Were-Rabbit doesn't find him!

Haircut Day!

A couple of weeks ago, Avery and I got our hair chopped off & Jake got his trimmed, too. I was nervous to get so much cut off of Avery's, because I was afraid that she wouldn't like it. When I would blow dry her hair after a bath, she would ask me if it was "long, golden & flowing". I'm happy to say that it's so cute & she is really liking it! Although, I'm struggling that it makes her look older. Hopefully, mine doesn't have the same effect.

Birthday Central!

Within two days, we celebrate Eric's, Avery's and Eden's birthdays! Not to mention Brent's (brother-in-law) and Alyssa's (niece). It is rather busy!
Avery has suddenly lost complete interest in Dora & lost most interest in Princesses, but has gained an immediate love for High School Musical and Hannah Montana. I swear we missed a few phases in that switch!
Avery had to go on a small treasure hunt to find her scooter. Happy 6th birthday, Angel!
Now it's Daddy's turn! He keeps telling the kids that he's turning 29, but they are onto him. Happy 32nd, Honey!
Awww, it's the birthday boy in his birthday hat!

I love this picture of Eden opening her presents with Grandma.
Eden got her first trike this year. Learning to pedal is a little down the road, though.Until that day comes, big brother is happy to help her out!Happy 2nd birthday, Princess!
